The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance lawyer to step into a broad and influential role, working closely with senior leadership to provide practical legal advice, manage regulatory requirements, and help drive key business initiatives.

Office: Please note that this role requires a minimum of four days per week in the office, providing excellent opportunities for collaboration and business engagement.

What you’ll do

  • Lead legal, regulatory, and compliance matters for a specialist insurance platform operating within the London market.
  • Provide strategic advice on insurance, governance, regulatory, and commercial issues across the business.
  • Oversee legal, compliance, and corporate governance activities.
  • Support engagement with industry bodies, regulators, and other key external stakeholders.
  • Advise senior management on risk, governance, and business-critical initiatives.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial and operational agreements.
  • Support data protection, regulatory, and compliance frameworks across the organisation.
  • Manage external legal advisers and oversee legal spend.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions on legal and regulatory matters.
  • Provide support for board and committee governance activities and related corporate matters.

Who we’re looking for

  • Qualified solicitor with significant post-qualification experience gained in the insurance industry.
  • Strong insurance and reinsurance background, with strong exposure to the London market and regulated environments.
  • Experience advising on regulatory, governance, compliance, and commercial matters.
  • Familiarity with UK and European regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Commercial, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented approach.

I’m working with a leading London Market insurer looking to appoint an Operations Manager, QA & Processing on a 15–18 month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover. This is a broad operational management role with responsibility for overseeing key processes across the underwriting lifecycle, including policy administration, data entry, data quality and quality assurance. You’ll manage and develop an onshore team while also coordinating an offshore data entry function, ensuring policy data is accurate, complete and available to support business flow, reporting and month/quarter-end requirements. Key responsibilities include: Managing and developing an onshore team of Operations Analysts and coordinating an offshore data entry team. Overseeing policy administration, data entry and data quality processes. Managing operational controls including underwriter authorities, peer reviews, contract certainty, e-placement and QA checks. Working closely with Underwriting and Finance to support month-end and quarter-end processes. Identifying and resolving data, process and system issues and driving improvements. Providing management with analysis and insight around data quality, operational risks and performance. Supporting wider Underwriting Operations projects and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will have strong Lloyd’s and London Market experience, with a good understanding of underwriting operations, policy processing and associated data requirements. Previous experience managing policy administration activity, QA/data quality processes and people is important, alongside strong stakeholder management and advanced Excel skills. You’ll ideally have 5+ years’ insurance experience, with previous exposure to managing policy administration systems and offshore teams. The Role You will take technical ownership across the design and development of modern digital products, working closely with Engineering, Product and business stakeholders.
